Whereas the division of Berlin shaped the cityscape up until 1989, the metropolis metamorphosed in the following years into Europe’s biggest building site. The major projects are now more or less finished, and the Potsdamer Platz and newly built government district form an exciting contrast to the Wilhelminian architecture of Charlottenburg and Kreuzberg.
